Backpacking ADT on
Wabash Trace Rail-Trail

The American Discovery Trail (ADT) connects with six national scenic trails, 10 national historic trails, 23 national recreational trails and hundreds of local and regional trails. It connects 14 national parks and 16 national forests.
The ADT crosses California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., and Delaware.
The goal is to route the American Discovery Trail entirely off-road. The routing will continue to be flexible and subject to change.
Iowa Trails Council Executive Director Tom Neenan is Iowa ADT coordinator and a member of the ADT board.
